Is this still technically coffee? ☕👀 or is it tea? 🫖 As an amateur coffee lover and an even more amateur tea lover, I didn’t expect something to sit so perfectly in between, but here we are. A friend gifted me a handful of this cascara the other day, and I admit I had never heard of it before. From what I have learned, Cascara isn’t the bean, but the dried skin and pulp of the coffee cherry, the fruit that surrounds the coffee seed. Instead of being discarded after processing, the coffee cherries are sun-dried and then infused like tea. The cup is light, fruity and naturally sweet, with notes of hibiscus, red berries and honey. A drink that was consumed for centuries in Yemen, Ethiopia and Central America, and now I see why, it’s acidity reminds me of my favorite specialty coffee that sometimes I cheat on tea with 🤭 This one is from @shouka_torrefacteur Would you call it coffee or tea? #cascara #coffeealternative #specialtycoffee #coffeelovers #tealovers
