Doncha 돈차/ 전차 🍵 Korea’s traditional “money tea,” shaped like ancient Joseon Dynasty coins 💰 This rare Korean post-fermented tea dates back over 1,000 years to the Later Silla period and was traditionally produced around Jangheung, a historic center of Korean tea culture. Hand-picked in spring, the leaves are steamed, pounded, pressed into coin shapes, and naturally aged for at least 6 months (sometimes over 20 years) developing a deep, earthy, slightly sweet flavor that evolves with every brew. You can also boil it for hours. Originally used for both drinking and trade, Doncha today, it’s a rare artisanal tea, still made in small batches and valued for both its history and its unique fermentation process. Would you try a tea that once doubled as currency? To me, the shape is so cute and the flavor so unique. Also, Korean never miss with fermented food. #koreantea #teaculture #tealovers #fermentedtea #fermentation
